A huge, massive well done to our girls FAI 5 a side soccer team for winning the Munster Final today in Cahir Park. 🏆 This is an incredible achievement and it now means that the girls progress to The Aviva Stadium for the All Ireland Finals. This is the first time in our history to achieve this and we are so proud of the girls today.
The girls represented Tipperary today having won the Tipp County finals in April. They first played Waterford and got off to a rough start losing 1-0 to a very strong Waterford team. They bounced back and showed great character when they played Kerry in their second game beating them 1-0. The girls came second in their group and progressed to the Semi-Finals they beat the Limerick team 2-0 and faced Waterford once again in the final. It was a thrilling encounter with great battles on the pitch. The girls went 2-0 up before halftime. The second half continued to be a challenge when Waterford nabbed a goal but a late goal for the Cloughjordan/Tipperary girls sealed the deal with a historic 3-1 win for our school and the Munster Title.
Well done to all the girls who played their hearts out today and never gave up. They showed incredible skill, determination and superb character throughout the day, and were deserving winners of the trophy.
We look forward to Cloughjordan No.1 N.S. Representing Munster in the Aviva Stadium on the 11th of June.
